One week ago today, I said goodbye to him.

He smiled and poured out a thank you in his language.  And I gave it right back to him.

Because for that week in Nicaragua…

…amid the scorching heat and ridiculous humidity…

…drilling deep for the refreshing water and celebrating with a water fight with his friends…

…finding the hidden riches in people’s lives among the harsh conditions…

…realizing that everyone (on my team and in the community) are so very connected beyond societal labels…

…through all these moments of God teaching me to be His hands and feet,
this little friend was teaching me.
